Multifrequency Transponder by JW Fishers
The acoustic sonar transponder from JW Fishers enables relocating an underwater location or piece of equipment quick and simple. Attached to an underwater position, the sonar transponder patiently awaits a coded signal from an acoustic sonar interrogator. When a diver equipped with an acoustic sonar interrogator places the interrogator in the direction of a transponder, the transponder emits a coded return signal that is detected by the acoustic sonar interrogator. The interrogator displays the transponder's distance (in feet or meters) and a compass indicates the transponder's direction. The signal may be followed directly to the destination by the diver. The acoustic sonar transponder may emit any of sixty (60) distinct frequencies (selectable by the operator), allowing many units to be placed in the same approximate region without interfering with one another. The diver is steered straight to the acoustic transponder by setting the acoustic sonar interrogator to the frequency of the acoustic transponder. The range of the MFT-1 multi-frequency transponder exceeds 3,000 feet.
Standard frequencies range from 20kHz to 50kHz in 500Hz increments (special frequencies are also available). The MFT-1 may be engaged automatically when placed in water or manually using a switch prior to deployment. Multiple MFT-1s, each emitting a distinct frequency, can be placed in the same geographic region. Using the DHI-1 diver-held interrogator, a diver may precisely determine the location of each MFT-1 transponder.
The MFT-1 multi-frequency transponder is powered by two 9-volt alkaline batteries that last for several months. For extended use, lithium batteries can be utilized. Also available are larger housings that carry additional batteries, significantly extending the duration of the operation. The Extended Operation Housing accommodates six batteries and provides three times the standard duration of the operation. The Very Long Duration Housing accommodates twelve "D"-sized batteries and provides twelve times the standard duration of the operation.
All acoustic sonar transponders from Fishers are backed by a TWO-YEAR WARRANTY.
