QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Ask a Question-
Some time back, I watch a you tube video and they were talking about VLF vs Pulse??? Not sure I got that quite right, but the Fisher 1280X caught my eye for $549 VS the CZ-21 at over $1,000. the 1280X only had 1 band and the CZ-2 had 2. I'm thinking of spending some time in Key West with my son & his long time girlfriend who is certified. I used to dive some in Hawaii off of Oahu. It was great. I'm Retired and Retired again and thinking of maybe getting into a 40 foot boat, that is if I can find a cheap place that I can live aboard in a slip. Anyways, I'm looking at doing Saltwater diving and finding sunken treasure, well maybe 1 coin. Recommendations? At one point, I was looking at the detector that I've seen being use on the Fischer claim and it was about $1500. I've slowed down a bit and the 1280X seems like it would do me, but I'm still curious about the Pulse vs VLF thing. The video was talking about the Pulse being better in the saltwater. Anyways, Your input would be greatfully appreciated. Thanx, Ron
A VLF (very low frequency) metal detector uses two coils, one sends and the other receives, to pick up on targets in the ground.A PI (Pulse Induction) metal detector sends out short bursts of current through a coil of wire.
Both the Fisher 1280X and the Fisher CZ-21 are VLF metal detectors. They are both submersibles to 250 ft.
However, the main difference is the frequency ranges between them. The 1280X only uses one frequency of 2.4Khz whereas the CZ-21 uses two and they would be 5Khz and 15khz. Gold is mostly found from 15Khz and above hence why the CZ-21 is more expensive.
